We believe that the Northwest is a great place to ride, and that riding is a great way to build a community. Learn more about what we do!
As a successfully bike shop that has been in the same location for over 75 years we understand the importance of community. So along with providing great customer service and hiring great people we do all we can to support the local cycling community.
For years we have donated time, money and man power to many causes and events. We believe that bikes are wonderful things and the more people on bikes the better it is for the community. If we can go to an event and help people feel more comfortable on their bike then maybe more people will ride and take part in these great events.
We offer free clinics and seminars all year long. These aren't your typical sales seminars either, we're not going to lock you in a room and make you buy a bike before we give you the free luggage! Nope, these are great informational clinics designed to help you learn more about your bike, riding your bike and events around the area.
Gregg's Greenlake Cycle first opened it's doors in 1932 under the direction of R.V. Gregg. Today Gregg's Cycles remains under the ownership of the third generation of the Gregg family.
Anything’s possible when the New Belgium Urban Assault Ride comes to town. Participants may find themselves attempting the infamous keg walk, careening down an inflatable slip ‘n slide, or wading through a foam pit at this funky bike scavenger hunt that sends two-person teams riding to checkpoints around town to complete crazy obstacle courses at each stop. The first team to complete the challenges and cross the finish line wins a pair of limited edition cruiser bikes. The ride is followed by a huge after party with New Belgium’s Fat Tire beer, live music, and plenty of two-wheeled shenanigans. More info...

Then once you're done with the ride they roll out the dinner! And it's a big one too! We'll be participating in a total of 18 events for a total of 25 days and we'll need 78 volunteers to make it all happen. That's over 600 hours we'll spend just this summer helping to support everything from Bike to Work Day to bike parking at the Wamu Family 4th!
For more than 75 years Gregg's Cycle has been active in the cycling community, donating product, services and helping out with many different events over the years. Well, it's time to let people know about it! We believe that Seattle is a great place to ride, and that riding is a great way to build a community. Read on and learn more!
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team
In Training® is the world's largest endurance sports training program.
The program provides training to run or walk marathons and half marathons
or participate in triathlons and century (100-mile) bike rides. Since 1988,
more than 300,000 volunteer participants have helped raise more than $700
million. In 2008 TNT will be helping participants with two events; The
Group Health Seattle to Portland Bicycle Classic and "America's
Most Beautiful Bike Ride" in Lake Tahoe, NV. Gregg's Cycle will
be helping out by providing specifically for TNT members, providing sign
up locations and other considerations. We're excited to join this great group
in helping to get more people out on their bike and supporting a great cause.

Tour de Cure is a series of fund-raising cycling events held in 40 states nationwide to benefit the American Diabetes Association. Whether participants ride 10 miles or 100 miles*, they will travel a route supported from start to finish with rest stops, food to fuel the journey and fans to cheer them on! Gregg's Cycle along with the Gregg's/Fat Tire race team was there to support the ride with good cheer and mechanical support.

As part of our ongoing support of the cycling community we recently
partnered up with One Reel to offer free bicycle parking
at Seattle's largest 4th of July Celebration. One Reel and their commitment
to be "dedicated to invigorating broad and diverse live audiences through
imaginative and creative arts events of all disciplines in traditional
and non-traditional venues" realized that promoting cycling as an alternative
to driving to events made great sense. Here at Gregg's we believe that
the more people that ride bikes the better we'll all be so it was easy
to see that a partnership would benefit everyone involved and hopefully
help people realize that it's easy to ride a bike to many of the great
events around the city.

The 28th annual Group Health Seattle To Portland Bicycle Classic was sold out this year and we were there to experience it. It was just getting light when we left Seattle and drove to the halfway point at Centrailia Community College. Once there we set up and got ready for the some 9000 people challenging themselves to ride from Seattle to Portland in one or two days.

A record number, 2,200 participants took part in the seventh annual
Benaroya Research Institute Triathlon at Seafair in 2007.
We've been involved with Seafair since 2004 and have
loved being there to help all the participants. Gregg's
Bellevue Cycle has taken this event on as their own and done a great
job with it.

The Double Day isn't the largest ride we support during the year, but
it has to be one of the most fun. It's a smaller group
but each and every one of the riders have a very personal
connection to the cause. We have a great time supporting
this ride and we're sure that it will just keep growing
as more and more people learn about it and the cause
behind it.

For the last 6 or 7 years we've gone out to the Danskin Triathlon to
help out in the transition area as well as on on the
course. 2007 was the first time I can remember that it
actually rained during the race. Below is a slide show of our work in
the transition area on Saturday.

Along with title sponsors Clif Bar and Camelbak we sponsored the Bike
Corral at Bumbershoot this year. With room for 500 bikes the bike corral
was a huge success. Each day the corral filled up with all kinds of bikes
and all kinds of riders who were very appreciative of the service. .

Over 1,800 cyclists joined the movement at the 2007 Group Health MS
Bike Tour, presented by Point B Solutions Group. It
was at times fun, emotional, grueling, easy, hot, chilly,
but most of all, it was important. Gregg's Alderwood
Cycle has made this event their own and did a great
job supporting this ride.

It was the 25th year of the American Lung Association Trek Tri-Island
and the 7th year of our supporting it. The route was
changed up a bit, no Victoria or San Juan Island this
year but the ride was great for those who came out,
despite a "little
rain". We had three mechanics out at the event to make sure that
all the bikes ran as well as possible. And we got a
lot of work considering the weather.

Another great ride for a great cause. Mike Utley was injured playing
for the Detroit Lions in 1991and was left paralyzed
from the waist down. Since then he has dedicated a
large part of his life to finding a cure for paralysis.
This ride takes place outside Wenatchee and includes
three great routes for all skill levels. Once again,
we were out there to make sure that the bikes ran smoothly
and people were as comfortable as possible on their
bikes and handbikes. Gregg's Bellevue Cycle has been
helping out with this ride for the last couple of years
and the staff at Bellevue will tell you that this ride
is truly and inspiration.
