I have ridden the bike for 65 miles and feel I can now write a review on the 2013 TREK FX7.6 WSD. Note: I had returned a road bike that replaced my stolen road bike which was then recovered. I didn't need two road bikes. I couldn't return the earlier bike even though it had never been taken from the store. I received a credit and that is why this bike was purchased. I ride the Trek 7.6 FX WSD 2013 mainly on paved trails, but quite frequently the trails may become crushed limestone or have some sand on them. I also use this bike when it there is a slight rain. It handles every nicely in those situations. I feel much more confident riding the FX than my road bike when it is rainy out. Modification One: The original shifters were impossible for me to use. My small hands couldn't reach the shifter on the right hand side at all. I replaced the shifters with Tiagra shifters and had to pay extra for labor and parts. The new shifters are wonderful and work easily. Modification Two: I had to have a short stem put on the bike. Modification Three: I replaced the tires with slightly wider ones that had some tread. I believe the wider tires with traction will be safer for commuting as well as riding on a damp trail or crushed limestone trails. Modification Four: The pedals were general stock pedals. I upgraded them. I expected this as most bicycles don't even come with pedals. The handle bar grips are great. They are very comfortable. I like that I have a place to rest my the heal of my hands. I like that you can see on the handle bars what gear you are in. The purple paint seems to be holding up very well. I have not noticed any nicks or scratches. The handle bar which is a dark gray almost black is very easy to scratch. I have several faint scratches on the handle bar and I have only ridden the bike 65 miles or so. There is only one place to put one water bottle. You cannot put two water bottle cages on the frame. I was very disappointed with this. Both my other bicycles have two cages for water bottles. I have to wear a waist bag or use a trunk bag to hold water bottles on long rides. I don't want to use a Camel Back. The seat that came with the bike is very comfortable for me. However, I dislike white seats because they get dirty so fast. I didn't want to pay extra to swap the seat out for a black one. I will keep it until it gets so dirty I can't stand it. You can install the Topeak Trunk Rack on the Trek FX 7.6 WSD. I wish the bicycle was available in a XS. I would have liked to see if that fit better. I continually get chain grease on my right leg from getting off and on the bike. This never happens on my road bike which is an XS. If you are short and have small hands you may want to look at another type of hybrid bike. Also, I may have misunderstood the dealer, but I thought he said the purple bike was a 2014. It's a 2013.

      Comments:

The best thing about this bike is the speed, comfort, upright position (I also have a Pilot 2.1WSD), ease of shifting, hand position, adaptability, and on and on. I LOVE THIS BIKE! I use it for commuting, toodling around town, shopping, doing the local rails-to-trails systems. I did not like the Bontrager seat that came with it, so I swapped it out for my Pilot 2.1WSD seat (and the Pilot got a new seat). You will not go wrong spending a little more money to get the carbon fiber and componenets for this bike as opposed to the 7.5 or others. For women, there is no other bike :-) BUY IT! You will not regret it. I haven't. Plus, it's purple! (mine is black with gold highlights, I bought it two years ago and have never looked back)
