Perfect to have if there is a chance of rain or if you just want extra protection on a long descent. It's extremely light so you'll hardly notice it's in your pocket, and it packs down so small (about half a pocket) that you won't sacrifice any storage space if you want to bring it with you "just in case." The fabric is waterproof so you'll stay dry if those clouds do decide to open up, but it's breathable too, to keep you from getting wet from the inside. It's also the perfect piece to put on for those long descents when you want to keep the wind off your chest and arms.
